Acumedicine's Treatment Modalities

Acupuncture

Using needles as fine as a human hair, we stimulate acupoints to draw qi, or vital life energy, to specific areas of the body. Acupuncture is thousands of years old. It has continuosly and consistently proven itself effective through the long haul of history. Acupuncture is a safe and effective way to promote healing and recovery from illness or injury. It works by promoting the circulation of blood and lymph and by regulating normal healthy body functions that are too frequently undermined by poor diet, inadequate rest and excess stress. Acupuncture produces results relatively quickly. You will know within a few sessions whether or not acupuncture is helpful for your condition.

Chinese Herbs

We often recommend Chinese herbal formulas for our patients to sustain and augment their acupuncture treatments. We have found Chinese herbs to be a safe and effective way to support health and healing for many internal medicine issues, including: shingles, irritable bowel, chronic rhinitis, allergies, PMS, migraine, and fatigue. Chinese herbal formula's contain a variety of herbs that work together to promote the body's own healing mechanisms. Herbs are gaining popularity as patients seek gentler, more natural remedies for common health challenges.

Allergy Reduction

A significant percentatge of our patients suffer from reactions to various environmental allergens. We employ a gentle and relaxing technique of testing and treating for reactivity based on stimulating acupoints without the use of needles. Patients report significant reductions in sensitivities that can otherwise be bothersome or even debilitating.

Qi Therapy

Acupuncture and Chinese herbs work with qi energy. At Acumedicine, we also use our hands to work with qi. Through gentle supportive holds, we encourage the body's own internal energy intelligence to awaken and promote the free flow of qi from within. We all carry excess stess and tension in the body which causes qi to stagnate, resulting in chronic stiffness and pain. With hands-on qi therapy, we facilitate release of chronic tension patterns and support the body's movement towards somatic freedom.

Massage Therapy

At Acumedicine we are fortunate to have available skilled and gentle massage therapy for our patients. Therapeutic massage is an excellent complement to acupuncture treatment. We recommend massage for most of our physical medicine patients and also for many of our other patients. Massage promotes qi and circulation, reduces tension and enhances well-being.

Migraine patient says:
"When I came to Acumedicine, I was suffering from at least one migraine per month. I haven't had one since I started acupuncture treatment five months ago. Now that we're managing my headaches, I like to come in for treatment just because it feels so good!"
